This update is for HYPER Core systems running OS 5, HYPER Edge G2, HYPER Echo G1 and G2, and for Syneto Virtual Appliance.
Upgrading to this release will not require a reboot if the system is running on 5.3.x version branch. Reboot is required when upgrading from 5.2.1 and older versions.
Introduction
This update introduces secure integration with 3rd party monitoring tools, Add-On Management directly from the SynetoOS UI, as well as improvements in the OS update mechanism, replication, and monitoring.
New Features
Add-On Management
Syneto Add-Ons enable users to easily enhance the security and protection capabilities of their SynetoOS-based infrastructure. Security Add-ons like Multi-Factor Authentication, Continuous Authentication, and Recovery Point Hold can now be activated on-demand directly from the Syneto UI.
Companies that must adhere to the NIS2 Directive can enable the required security add-ons without interrupting the critical business applications running on the Syneto appliances.
The capability to protect VMs running on external VMware vSphere hosts can now be managed directly from the Web UI. In a few clicks, users can now enable the External VM Protection Add-On to expand Syneto’s ML-driven policy-based protection to critical VMs running outside of Syneto platform. Previously this feature was only available on the HYPER Echo platform. With this release Syneto HYPER Core and HYPER Edge users can start protecting VMs running on other hosts by activating the Add-On directly from the UI.
Integration With 3rd Party Monitoring Platforms
This version enables users to securely integrate their SynetoOS infrastructure with the industry-standard monitoring tools like Zabbix, NAGIOS, PRTG, and others for. This enables organizations save time and efforts on monitoring their IT infrastructure by having the observability of both infrastructure and the business applications running on it. While this integration was introduced in 5.3.4, 5.4.0 brings secure API token-based authentication, which is a more secure way to integrate with monitoring platforms.
